As it gets closer to November 7, I'm finding it harder to pay attention simply because the noise levels are approaching white-out levels. It occurs to me that with all of the GOTV efforts, use it or lose it fund raising, breaking scandals, vile smear attacks, etc. that we might need to be thinking deeper about the election process.
Sure, I know getting out votes is going to be critical (I did a stint of phone work for Move On a few days ago) - but what happens the day of the election and after is going to be just as important as what happens inside the voting booth.
We've seen the Republicans are desperate. There is no smear too vile, no tactic too sleazy that they won't use it if they think it'll work. These people have trained to fight dirty, and they are not going to stop now. So, what should we be getting ready for from them? (more)
