Yesterday, a diarist said he had received a forwarded e-mail claiming that Maryland electioneering laws would not permit voters to wear, say, Obama T-shirts when they vote. Or McPalin buttons on their baseball caps.
The diary was called "GOP Floating Fake Election Regulations in MD" but it seems to have been whacked by Vito the leg-breaker. The comments turned into a flamefest between someone who claimed the Maryland statute defined a political T-shirt per se as "electioneering" and the diarist, who became rather frustrated with the commenter.
I contributed a few comments myself in an effort to put the language in the state statute into perspective, but it didn't help. So I decided to follow up with a short diary with the response from our County Election Director.
The good news: no dress code for voters.
